Once issued, the word “temporary” will be printed on the front of all licenses belonging to non-citizens. Furthermore, the card will only be valid for four years or the length of time the applicant is allowed to stay in the country, whichever is shorter.

Military & Out of State Drivers License Renewal in Oklahoma

DMV license renewal applications may be submitted by mail if you are temporarily living outside of Oklahoma. However, your license cannot be expired and must be in good standing to apply. DMV license renewal applications may be submitted by absent members of the armed forces but are not required. A valid license held by an active member of the military stationed outside of Oklahoma will remain valid for the duration of his or her service and 60 days after he or she returns to Oklahoma. After which, applicants must submit a DMV license renewal application to the DMV.

Oklahoma REAL ID Drivers License Renewal

DMV license renewal applications cannot be used to obtain REAL ID cards in Oklahoma. Although REAL ID cards are not currently available in the state, they will become available in the Spring of 2020.

Residents will be required to have REAL ID cards when boarding a domestic flight after 2020 if they are not carrying a passport. Extensions are being sought by Oklahoma’s state government.
