To prepare for the written test, you should read the motorcycle driver manual, which is provided by each state's DMV, and you can take some online practice tests, as well. A motorcycle permit has certain restrictions, which means you are required to wear eye protection, you can only ride during daytime, and you have to wear a helmet.

After you have obtained your permit, you will have to carry it with you for a certain period of time, and then you can apply for a motorcycle license. You have to pass a road skills test, or complete a motorcycle safety course. You also have to pay a license fee. After you pass the test, the DMV will issue your license or motorcycle endorsement.
