How to Renew/Replace a Motorcycle License in Kentucky
HOW TO RENEW YOUR MOTORCYCLE LICENSE
A Kentucky Motorcycle License can be renewed in person at any local Circuit Court Clerk's driver license office in the State. The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet notifies owners of the expiration date of their motorcycle license by mail in advance.
WHEN TO RENEW YOUR MOTORCYCLE LICENSE
Your Kentucky motorcycle license will generally expire soon after your birthday. The expiration year depends on your age. For drivers under 21, the license expires 90 days after the 21st birthday and for drivers above 21, the license expires 31 days after your birthday every four years. It is advisable to renew your motorcycle license before the date on which it will expire. You can renew your license any time in the six months leading up to its expiration. If you wait for more than a year to renew your license you will be required to take the vision as well as the knowledge tests.
TO RENEW IN PERSON
You must bring:
- Your expiring motorcycle license.
- If your name has changed, documentation of the name change (birth certificate, marriage license, court orders, etc.) is required.
- The renewal 7-1-2005.htm fee payable by cash or check (credit cards not accepted).

You must replace your motorcycle license if your original license has been lost, stolen or destroyed.TO REPLACE IN PERSON
You must:- Bring your Social Security card. You will also have to provide them with your name and date of birth.
- Bring the correct cost. Please contact your local Circuit Court Clerk's driver license office to confirm the fee before applying in person, since fees may vary.
- If your motorcycle license will expire within the next six months, you are not eligible to apply for a duplicate or replacement. Instead, you will need to renew your license.
