How to Renew/Replace a Motorcycle License in Wyoming

HOW TO RENEW YOUR MOTORCYCLE LICENSE

A Wyoming Motorcycle License can be renewed by mail or in person at any exam station in the State. The Wyoming Department of Transportation notifies owners of the expiration date of their motorcycle license by mail, approximately four months in advance.

WHEN TO RENEW YOUR MOTORCYCLE LICENSE

Your Wyoming motorcycle license is valid for four years and generally expires on your birthday. If you are over 21 years of age you can renew any time up to 120 days prior to expiration and if you are under 21, up to 90 days prior to the expiration date.

TO RENEW IN PERSON

You must bring:

  • Your expiring motorcycle license or the renewal card.
  • A completed renewal application form.
  • The renewal fee.
  • You will need to have your vision tested. Alternatively you can bring a completed driver vision evaluation form or other acceptable documentation signed by a competent authority verifying acceptable vision. This documentation should be dated within one year of application of license renewal.
  • The examiner may also ask you to take a skills test if it is felt to be necessary.

TO RENEW BY U.S. MAIL

Renewing by mail is an option that can be exercised once every 8 years. You need:
  • A filled in renewal application that you will receive in the mail 120 days prior to expiration. You can also download the application form from the WYDOT website.
  • A driver vision evaluation form or other written evidence completed by a vision specialist testifying your visual competence. This documentation should be dated within one year of application of license renewal.
  • A check or money order for the renewal fee made out to WYDOT.

HOW TO REPLACE YOUR MOTORCYCLE LICENSE

A Wyoming Motorcycle License can be replaced in person at any exam station in the State.

WHEN TO REPLACE YOUR MOTORCYCLE LICENSE

You must replace your motorcycle license if your original license has been lost, stolen or destroyed. If your license has been stolen a police report should be filed. A copy of the report should be brought with you when applying for a duplicate license.

TO REPLACE IN PERSON

You must:
  • Bring information. The state of Wyoming requires that you present two forms of approved identification.
  • Download, complete and bring the Wyoming Driver License/Identification Card Application.
  • Pass a vision test.
  • Bring the correct fee. Please contact your exam station to confirm the fee before applying in person, since fees may vary.
  • If your motorcycle license will expire within the next 120 days, you can renew your license instead of applying for a replacement.
Note: Wyoming residents who are temporarily out of state but will be returning within 60 days may call Driver services at (307) 777-4800 for a 60 day temporary motorcycle license. Once you return the temporary license has to be surrendered and a duplicate motorcycle license applied for in person, following the instructions listed above. Wyoming residents who will not be returning to the state within 60 days should:
  • Download, complete and submit the Wyoming Driver License/Identification Card Application. along with proof of a vision screening test completed within the last 12 months.
  • Obtain a check or money order in the correct amount, made payable to: Wyoming Department of Transportation. Please contact WYDOT Driver Licensing at (307) 777-4800 or (307) 777-4810 to confirm the correct fee, as fees may vary.
