How to Renew/Replace a Motorcycle License in Mississippi

HOW TO RENEW YOUR MOTORCYCLE LICENSE

A Mississippi Motorcycle License can be renewed in person at any District Driver License office in the State. The Mississippi Department of Public Safety notifies owners of the expiration date of their motorcycle license by mail in advance.

WHEN TO RENEW YOUR MOTORCYCLE LICENSE

Your Mississippi motorcycle license is generally valid for five years and will expire on your birthday. You can renew your license any time up to six months prior to expiration date.

TO RENEW IN PERSON

You must bring:

  • Your expiring motorcycle license or proof of identity.
  • If your name or address has changed, appropriate documentation is required (court order, marriage license, birth certificate, etc.).
  • Your Social Security card.
  • The renewal fee.

HOW TO REPLACE YOUR MOTORCYCLE LICENSE

A Mississippi Motorcycle License can be replaced online or in person at any District Driver License office in the State.

WHEN TO REPLACE YOUR MOTORCYCLE LICENSE

You must replace your motorcycle license if your original license has been lost, stolen or destroyed.

TO REPLACE IN PERSON

You must:
  • Bring proper identification. The state of Mississippi requires that you present two pieces of primary ID when applying for a duplicate motorcycle license. Alternatively, you can bring one piece of primary ID AND one piece of secondary ID.
  • Bring the correct fee. Please contact your District Driver License office to confirm the fee before applying in person, since fees may vary.
  • If your motorcycle license will expire within the next six months, you are eligible to renew your license.
Note: Mississippi residents who are temporarily out of state and unable to apply in person may apply for a duplicate motorcycle license through the mail or online. Such persons may include military personnel or students who are either out of the state or country, among others.
  • You can apply online for a duplicate license provided you still live at address printed in your current license. But the duplicate will only be mailed to your permanent address.
  • If applying by mail, obtain a cashier's check or money order in the correct amount, made payable to: Department of Public Safety. Please contact the Department of Public Safety at (601) 987-1212 to confirm the correct fee, as fees may vary.

The duplicate motorcycle license will be processed and mailed to you in approximately 10-12 business days.

TO REPLACE VIA THE INTERNET

To apply online, visit the Department of Public Safety online services page. You need:
  • Your lost motorcycle license number.
  • Debit or Credit card (Visa or MasterCard) or an electronic check to make the payment (An additional payment of $3.87 is levied for all online transactions, which includes handling and postal charges).
The duplicate motorcycle license will arrive by mail within 10 to 12 days.
