How to Renew/Replace a Motorcycle License in New Hampshire
HOW TO RENEW YOUR MOTORCYCLE LICENSE
A New Hampshire Motorcycle License can be renewed in person at any of the 18 driver licensing substations in the State. License holders with a Visa Card or an Employment Authorization Document are required to visit the DMV headquarters in Concord for a renewal. The New Hampshire Division of Motor Vehicles notifies owners of the expiration date of their motorcycle license by mail in advance.
WHEN TO RENEW YOUR MOTORCYCLE LICENSE
Your New Hampshire motorcycle license will generally expire on your birthday, every four years. It is advisable to renew your motorcycle license before the birthday on which it will expire. You can renew your license any time in the two months leading up to its expiration. Your driving privileges expire on the midnight of your birthday if you do not renew. However, you will still have an additional one year to renew your license.
TO RENEW IN PERSON
You must bring:
- Your expiring motorcycle license.
- Renewal application, which is the same as the original license form.
- If your name and/or address have changed, documentation of the name change is required.
- Renewal fee payable by cash, check or an acceptable credit card.
- You are required to take an Eye exam every time you renew your license.
Note: Renewal by mail is available only to residents who happen to be out of state when their license expires and to military personnel. When you renew by mail, you should prepare and/or complete:
- The renewal application form.
- For the eye exam requirement, you may get the Vision Re-examination form filled out by an eye doctor.
- A money order for the renewal fee.
Mail all the documents to:

HOW TO REPLACE YOUR MOTORCYCLE LICENSE
A New Hampshire Motorcycle License can be replaced in person at any driver licensing substation in the State.
WHEN TO REPLACE YOUR MOTORCYCLE LICENSE
You must replace your motorcycle license if your original license has been lost, stolen or destroyed.
TO REPLACE IN PERSON
You must:
- Bring proper identification when applying for a duplicate motorcycle license. A proof of residency must also be submitted.
- Bring the correct fee. Normally, there is a $10 fee for replacing a lost, stolen, or mutilated license. Please contact your driver licensing substation to confirm the fee before applying in person, since fees may vary.
- Complete and bring an Application for Driver's License.
- If your motorcycle license will expire within the next 60 days, you can renew your license instead of applying for a replacement.
Note: New Hampshire residents who are temporarily out of state and unable to apply in person may apply for a duplicate motorcycle license through the mail. Such persons may include military personnel or students who are either out of the state or country, among others.
- Download and complete the application form from the DMV website.
- Obtain a certified check, cashier's check or money order in the correct amount. Please contact the DMV at (603)271-2371 to confirm the correct fee, as fees may vary.
