How to Register a Boat or Water Craft in Wyoming
Most new boats must be registered through the Wyoming Game and Fish Department before they can be sailed.
VESSELS THAT REQUIRE REGISTRATION
- Any powerboat sailing in Wyoming waters.
VESSELS THAT DO NOT REQUIRE REGISTRATION
- Boats owned by the United States, a solitary state, a county, or a municipality for official purposes.
- Boats registered in another country temporarily plying in Wyoming waters (less than 90 days).
- Boats registered in another state and not being used in Wyoming for more than 90 days.
- Any boat that is propelled only by oars or paddles.
- Boats registered with the U.S. Coast Guard.
TO REGISTER BY U.S. MAIL
- You must complete a boat registration application (Wyoming Watercraft Application form) along with proof of ownership such as a bill of sale, previous registration, invoice, bill of lading, sales tax receipt from the department of revenue, certificate of origin, or out-of-state title and the appropriate fee in the form of a check or money order.

FEES
Boat registration fees are standardized as $15 for one year and $40 for 3 years, irrespective of the size or type of the boat.ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- The vessel registration number, the hull identification number and the current decals must be clearly displayed on the vessel, according to Wyoming requirements.
