How to Replace a Vehicle Registration in Wyoming

If your vehicle's registration card, license plate(s) or stickers are lost, stolen, or damaged, you may apply for a replacement with the Wyoming Department of Transportation. While the procedure differs slightly depending on what needs to be replaced, you will usually need to complete the appropriate application form available at the local county treasurer's office.

APPLYING FOR A REPLACEMENT REGISTRATION CARD

You can apply for a replacement registration card if your card is lost, stolen, or damaged in person, by visiting your local county treasurer's office by following these steps:

  1. Provide the license number of the vehicle and your name.
  2. Complete the application available at the local county treasurer's office. The forms may vary from one county to another.
  3. If your current registration card has been damaged, attach the damaged card to the application.
  4. Pay the duplicate registration fee, currently $4.

APPLYING FOR A REPLACEMENT LICENSE PLATES

If one or both of your license plates are lost, stolen, or damaged, you must apply for replacement plate(s) immediately. You can obtain replacement plates in person at the local county treasurer's office.
  1. Complete the appropriate application for replacement plates. The forms may vary from one county to another.
  2. Bring the damaged plate(s) with you, if you still have them.
  3. Bring your valid Wyoming registration card.
  4. Bring also your vehicle details like make, model and identification number.
  5. Pay the appropriate duplicate license plate fee, which is currently $8.

APPLYING FOR REPLACEMENT LICENSE PLATE STICKER(S)

If your vehicle's sticker is lost, stolen or damaged, you are required to obtain a replacement sticker. There is no paperwork involved to replace tags. You can go in person to the local county treasurer's office, pay $6, and walk out with a new sticker.
