    1. Full vehicle identification number (VIN)
    2. Postcard control number
    3. Last six characters of VIN
  3. License plate number
  4. Your zip code

Once you have provided all of the necessary information and you have verified that all information is correct, you must authorize a payment for the replacement fee and online processing fee. You must pay the fees using either a MasterCard, VISA, American Express or Discover credit card. Once the payment has been accepted, your request will be processed.

How to Replace a Vehicle Registration in Person

If you would prefer to replace your MVD lost registration in person, you can do so by visiting your local MVD office in New Mexico. Contact the MVD office before you visit to see if you can set up an appointment so that you can save time. To request a duplicate, you must follow these steps:

  1. Present proof of identify, such as a valid NM driver’s license, if necessary.
  2. Provide necessary vehicle information, such as a VIN, control number or license plate number.
