How to Replace a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) in Minnesota

If your Minnesota commercial driver's license (CDL) is lost, stolen, or destroyed, you can apply for a replacement license. While not required by Minnesota law, it is a good idea to notify your local police department if you believe your CDL has been stolen.

APPLYING FOR A DUPLICATE CDL

  1. You will need to visit your local DVS Driver License Office in person in order to apply for a replacement CDL.
  2. You must present a valid form of identification if your name has changed or the DVS does not have a photo for you on file.
  3. Submit the replacement fee of $13.50.
  4. If your current CDL is damaged, you must surrender it at the DVS Driver License Office when you apply for a replacement.
