How to Replace a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) in Kansas

If your Kansas commercial driver's license (CDL) is lost, stolen, or destroyed, you can apply for a replacement license. While not required by Kansas law, it is a good idea to notify your local police department if you believe your CDL has been stolen.

APPLYING FOR A DUPLICATE CDL IN PERSON

  1. You will need to visit your local exam station in person in order to apply for a replacement CDL. If you are out of state, Kansas Department of Revenue recommends that you carry your police report with you till you return to Kansas and get a duplicate license.
  2. You must present two valid forms of identification, one for age proof and one for signature proof, along with an address proof.
  3. Submit the replacement fee of $8. There will also be an additional $4 fee for taking your current photo.
  4. If your current CDL is damaged, you must surrender it at the exam station when you apply for a replacement.
