Traffic/Driving Schools in Wyoming

TRAFFIC SCHOOLS

The state of Wyoming does not endorse any traffic schools to carry out ‘Driver Improvement Courses' (DIC). However, there are many private organizations that hold regular courses. There are three reasons why people enroll in the Driver Improvement Courses:

  • After a traffic violation for driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, the court may order the driver to take a course at a traffic/driving school to improve their safe-driving skills.
  • To receive insurance discounts.
  • To reduce the cost of penalties incurred as a result of a driving violation.
This program is designed to help you to learn defensive driving techniques that will make you a safer driver. The DIC is an eight hour course and there are various locations and online courses offered in Wyoming. If the course has been court-ordered, please ensure that the court will accept a certificate of completion from an online course, before enrolling in a computer based DIC.

BENEFITS

Any driver can enroll in a Driver Improvement Course at any time to receive the following benefits:
  • Insurance Benefits - some insurance companies may offer premium discounts. Please check with your insurance representative to see if you qualify for this discount.
  • Reduce the penalty for a driving violation - some courts allow you to reduce the penalty due on a traffic violation if you complete a clinic. You should contact your local authorities for more details.

WHEN IS IT MANDATORY?

Either the court or the DOT (when notified by the courts) may order you to successfully complete a driver improvement program when you have been convicted of a traffic violation for driving while under the influence of drugs or alcohol. It is under the court's discretion as to whether or not you will be mandated to take one of these courses.

FEES

The fees for these courses vary by provider. Contact the course providers for details on individual pricing.
