DMV.com has ranked and reviewed every DMV agency website to find the best of class for its 2015 State DMV Website Rankings. All the websites were graded using a comprehensive scorecard that evaluated the design, usability, content and online services. These websites ranked #11 to #20 in government motor vehicle and licensing websites.

    The Nevada DMV website has logical menus with a number of online services in the main navigation. Online forms are easily understandable and identify required fields. Although the website looks good on a desktop the site is not tablet or mobile responsive. Appointments can also only be made for driving skills tests.

    The North Carolina DOT website’s responsive design allows users to access information using tablets, desktop PCs and mobile phones. The homepage provides a clear snapshot of information and services offered. Although online services are conveniently located in the main navigation, drop downs have not been made available which results in the user having to scroll down below the fold to access downloads and forms.

Physical location information is easily available and users can make appointments online if a trip to the DMV is required. The Nebraska DMV has made a number of Driver Licensing Services and Vehicle Quick Links available on the homepage but with the current navigation system, users are forced to scroll below the fold to access a number of the website’s services.

The Georgia Department of Drivers Services website is mobile responsive, however the website is quite cluttered with a number of online services on the homepage appearing below the fold.

The main issues with the site include that it is very difficult to find contact details, while the site is cluttered and does not provide clear call to actions.

    Content within the Delaware DMV website is easily readable. The website however offers only half of the online services DMV.com was looking for when ranking the top state DMV websites. The navigation is also not user friendly as half of the website’s link options are available below the fold.

    The Colorado DMV website is quite an aesthetically pleasing website with a nicely designed logo. The website is responsive with a number of convenient online services. If a trip to the DMV is necessary users can make an appointment online. The navigation is quite extensive and a handy DMV office finder application is located in the top menu.

While the website scored highly on a number of factors the website does not provide convenient online services to the user. The renewal express link strangely does not provide information as what is available to renew.

    The Vermont DMV website offers content that is written in a way that is easily digestible and concise. The website is also uncluttered and is easily navigated. Unfortunately the website is not mobile responsive delivering a negative user experience if using a mobile or tablet device.
