A lot of cool, new cars had their world premieres at this year’s New York Auto Show. It was exactly what was expected of one of the most important auto shows in the world. This time around, over 1,000 vehicles were exhibited at the New York Show, which is the oldest North American auto show. Almost every large car manufacturer took part in this exhibition, from the European Mercedes, Audi, Volkswagen, to the Japanese Honda and Toyota, to the American Big Three. Some of the highlights of the show were the 2014 Jeep Cherokee, the Mercedes Benz E63 AMG S Wagon, the 2014 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28, and the Volkswagen Golf 7.

2014 Mercedes Benz E63 AMG S Wagon
This is supposed to be one the fastest station wagons ever made. With the E63 AMG S, Mercedes is hoping to change the way people perceive station wagons. It’s a luxury vehicle, as every other car Mercedes makes, which has a 5.5-liter, twin turbo V8 engine, with 577 horsepower, and 590 lb-ft of torque. It’s an incredibly powerful car, perhaps too powerful for a station wagon. It goes from 0-60 mph in just 3.6 seconds, and hits a maximum speed at 186 mph. So, this is a station wagon that has the performances of a sports car, something that we haven’t had the chance to see until now.

2014 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28
The 2014 Chevrolet Camaro is perhaps the most talked-about car at the 2013 New York Auto Show. General Motors was able to create yet another super fast, powerful car, which is supposed to go into production this fall. With 500 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque, and an 7.0-liter, LS7 V8 engine, it’s quite a competition to the best sports cars in the world. It comes with a 6-speed manual transmission, and it can be a great racing car. Inside, there are the incredibly comfortable Recaro racing seats, along with the flat-bottom steering wheel. Even though there is no official information regarding the price, it’s expected to cost over $60,000.

Volkswagen Golf 7
This is the seventh generation of one of the most popular models that this German car maker has ever made. It will be available for purchase in 2014, and two versions will be offered, one with a 2.0-liter petrol engine, producing 220 horsepower, and a GTI Performance version with 230 horsepower and 170 lb-ft of torque. As far as design is concerned, the Golf 7 keeps the modern styling its predecessors had, and it offers more interior room than previous models.

2014 Jeep Cherokee
The 2014 Jeep Cherokee comes with a couple of changes on the exterior design, mainly on the front end, which is now a lot edgier and more aggressive. It also has better performances as compared to the predecessors, with a 9-speed automatic transmission, and a 2.4-liter I4 engine, developing 184 horsepower and 171 lb-ft of torque. Another benefit that the new Cherokee provides is the improved fuel efficiency, with 31 mpg on the highway.
