How to Handle a Change of Address in Pennsylvania

If you are a Pennsylvania resident and have changed addresses or plan to do so in the near future, you must have the address information updated on your license, vehicle registration and title certificate. You are also required to notify your insurance provider of your new address.

REPORTING A CHANGE OF ADDRESS TO THE DRIVER LICENSE DIVISION

You must notify the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) of a change of address within 15 days of moving to a new residence. The process is simple, and can be done by mail or online. You will subsequently receive a Driver's License Update Card from PennDOT. Address changes are free.

Reporting an address change by mail:

  1. Complete an Application for Change/Correction/Replacement (Form DL-80) in blue or black ink. You can get the form online or from your local Driver License Center.
  2. Fill out the form, ensuring that all details are correct and sign it.
  3. Mail the form to:
Bureau of Driver Licensing

P.O. Box 68272

Harrisburg, PA 17106-8272

Reporting an address change online:

  1. Go online to the PennDOT services page and follow instructions carefully.
  2. Submit the form. No processing free is charged.

Reporting an address change for Commercial Driver's Licenses (CDL)

Complete the Application to Replace/Correct Commercial Driver's License (Form DL-80CD). You can download it from the Internet or pick it up at a local Driver License Center. The replacement CDL is required to show the new address. Look for fee information and instructions on the back of the form.

Reporting an address change for Learner's Permits

Complete the Application to Replace/Correct Commercial Driver's License (Form DL-31). You can download it from the Internet or pick it up at a local Driver License Center. The replacement CDL is required to show the new address. Look for fee information and instructions on the back of the form.

Reporting an address change on Photo ID cards

For Photo ID Cards, change your address by going online to the PennDOT services page or completing the Application for Change/Correction/Replacement or Renewal of Photo ID Card (Form DL-54B). You can get the form online or visit your closest Driver License Center.

ADDRESS CHANGE ON YOUR VEHICLE TITLE AND REGISTRATION

  1. You must notify your PennDOT of a change of address and have this information updated on your Pennsylvania Vehicle Title and Registration certificate. This must be done within 15 days of moving to a new address.
  2. You can report the change of address online and fill out Form MV-63.
  3. You can also fill out the form and mail to:
