  1. In order to get a passing grade on the Kansas written drivers test, you need to answer a minimum of 80% of the questions correctly (20 of 25).
  2. Depending on the length of your license’s validity, you will have to pay a different fee during the application process. For a four-year Regular Class C license, the fee is $23. For a six-year license, the cost is $29. Both of these costs include the $3 testing fee.
  3. In order to take the Kansas written driving exam, you have to be at least 14 years of age.
  4. You can only apply for an unrestricted driver’s license when you have reached the age of 17.

There is no greater combination than learning and self-testing, and the DMV.com study bundle combines both of these aids to ensure that you get a passing score on your written test on your first try. If you don’t we’ll, even refund your purchase.

Documents Needed for Noncitizens

Non-US citizens can still apply for driving licenses and instructions permits in Kansas, so long as they can provide the same sets of documents. The only difference is that they will have to provide one of the following items as a proof of their ID/lawful status:

  • Valid Permanent Resident Card
  • Current Employment Authorization Card
  • Valid foreign passport with the necessary accompanying documents
  • Current refugee travel documents
  • Valid I-94 form
  • As for the two required proofs of residency, they can provide any of the following:

    • Lease agreements
    • Bank statements

After the Written Test

Passing the written driving exam in Kansas and obtaining your instructional permit is a big step closer to getting your official driver’s license. However, you will have to hold that permit for a full year and wait until you are at least 15 years of age before you can apply for the next level of licensing: the restricted license. Then, when you are 17, your restrictions will be removed and you will get your first unrestricted license.

In order to make sure you pass your DMV skills test, spend as much time practicing behind the wheel as you are able. Also, be ready for the state-mandated vision test. Your vision in at least one eye must meet the visual acuity requirement of 20/40 to get a license.

Note that only prospective drivers who complete 50 hours of supervised driver training (including 10 at night) will be issued an official Kansas license.
