[edit] TRAFFIC SCHOOLS
In the state of Tennessee, traffic schools are often referred to as âDriver Improvement Programs' (DIP). There are three reasons why people enroll in the Driver Improvement Programs:
- To avoid an impending suspension of driving privileges, or to reduce the suspension period.
- To receive insurance discounts.
- To reduce the demerit points on your driving record.
[edit] BENEFITS
Any driver can enroll in a Driver Improvement Program at any time to receive the following benefits:- Insurance Benefits - some insurance companies may offer premium discounts. Please check with your insurance representative to see if you qualify for this discount.
- Avoid or reduce suspensions - a DIP can help to avoid suspensions resulting from exceeding the number of allowed demerit points in a year.
[edit] WHEN IS IT MANDATORY?
Adult drivers who accrue twelve or more demerit points in a year, or juvenile drivers who accrue six or more demerit points in a year, could face suspension of their driving privileges for up to 12 months. Enrolling in a DIP is one of the best options that you have when faced with a notice of suspension. Those whose license has already been suspended can also benefit by enrolling in a DIP to reduce their suspension period.[edit] FEES
Depending on the location, the 8 hour clinics or online courses can cost up to $75.00. Please see the clinic locations for more details on individual pricing.[edit] ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
