Appointments and Scheduling

Apart from visiting DOT locations to schedule your vision, knowledge and road tests, you may also use the DOT website or contact the DOT to schedule certain activities in advance:

  • Make a road test appointment, or reschedule an existing appointment.
  • Make a test appointment by calling the DOT at (800) 932-4600 within Pennsylvania or at (717) 412-5300 from out-of-state.

TYPEs OF LOCATIONS

  • Driver License Centers handle issues related to licenses, commercial licenses, non-driver IDs, permits and more. You can also schedule your vision, knowledge and road tests here, although road tests are performed exam centers or at third party commercial license testing sites. General hours of operation are Monday-Saturday, 8:30 am-4:15 pm, except for legal holidays. Different centers offer different service and operate at different hours. Some of them are open on Saturdays also for a limited time. Please verify the hours and services offered at your preferred Center before visiting in person.
  • PennDOT Service Centers deal with registrations and titles. General hours of operation are Monday-Saturday, 8:30 am-4:15 pm, except for legal holidays. Different centers offer different service and operate at different hours. Some of them are open on Saturdays also for a limited time. Please verify the hours and services offered at your preferred Center before visiting in person.
  • Online Messengers are specialized internet partners of DOT which handle issues related to license renewal, registration renewal, address change and more. They charge a nominal fee for their service.
  • Photo License Centers offer photo services for licenses and non-driver IDs. General hours of operation are Monday-Saturday, 8:30 am-4:15 pm, except for legal holidays. Different centers offer different service and operate at different hours. Some of them are open on Saturdays also for a limited time.   • Driver License Exam Centers provide driver vision and knowledge testing services and also deal with non-driver IDs, permits and more.   • Third Party CDL Test Sites are authorized to conduct road tests for commercial licenses. Different Test Sites operate at different hours. Please verify the hours at your preferred Test Site and make an appointment before visiting in person.
  • Enhanced Vehicle Inspections Stations are available for special inspections on previously damaged vehicles. Different Stations operate at different hours. Some of them are open on Saturdays also for a limited time. Please verify the hours at your preferred Station before visiting in person.

Help! I just recently had lasik eye surgery and I want to remove the corrective lens restriction on my drivers license. I can't find anywhere how to go about doing this in Pennsylvania. I can found out how to do this in every other state accept this one. Please can someone point me in the right direction? What form do I need? Do I just walk in to the DMV and ask for it?
